Answer & Solution: Is The Economy Affecting My Health?
The simple answer is: YES!
And they why and how aren't that complex either.
The economy is affecting everyone's health to be honest. Times of economic stress put a strain on everyone's bodies. Stress equates to nagging headaches, less productivity at work, insomnia and decreased appetite. Insomnia leads to poor mental performance. Lack of nourishment leads to laziness and poor mental performance as well. Stress starts a vicious cycle that is hard to overcome once it's been started. Stress that's left unchecked can contribute to health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.
Now let's say you don't have a job at all. Well, first off, you're in the same boat as hundreds of thousands of Americans right now. Now you have more time so you probably have more opportunities to get to the gym (that is if you can afford one) and you most likely have more time to think about your diet. However, that's not always the case as many sink into a deeper depressive state when they are out of work and we know what happens when we're depressed...
we don't want to do much of anything. And you probably don't have health insurance at this point either, so let's hope you don't get sick!
The hard part is remaining motivated while you're out of work. However, that's when you should be your most motivated (oddly enough). A person without a job should be out there every day looking for a job, exercising when they can and making sure their diet is healthy in the process. Diet isn't always easy on a budget though. You would think that with less money, diet would be easier but unfortunately the cheapest foods are usually the worse. Not if you go to the market and cook at home though. Take a trip to Trader Joe's and you'll see what I mean.
Who says you need a gym to remain physically fit? What do you think the Romans did? They certainly weren't going to a David Barton Gym! Take a run in Central Park, swim at the YMCA, do push-ups at home, sit-ups, lift objects in your own apartment or ask a friend that has buddy passes to let you join them at the gym.
I find there's a lot you can still do to maintain your health even in times of economic crisis. You'd be surprised but just research it a little on the web and all the answers lie within.
